Tata Steel and Holland Sensor partner on real-time metal monitoring in industrial water systems

Gorinchem, The Netherlands

Holland Sensor and Tata Steel Tubes Nederland have signed a cooperation agreement to explore the application of the Mizu®Sensor for real-time monitoring of metal concentrations in industrial water streams. The agreement was formalized during Aqua Nederland.

The collaboration follows a series of successful technical discussions and evaluations and focuses on validating the Mizu®Sensor within Tata Steel’s complex industrial water systems. Accurate and timely insight into metal concentrations is essential for both process control and environmental compliance in steel production.

Through this partnership, Holland Sensor and Tata Steel aim to further optimize the sensor’s performance in a demanding industrial environment and accelerate the development of scalable applications for real-time metal monitoring.

Jacob Gerkema, Managing Director at Tata Steel Tubes Nederland:
“Progress in water quality requires both innovation and collaboration. With the technology from Holland Sensor, we are taking an important step toward future-proof and sustainable water management. Real-time insight allows us to act faster, steer more effectively, and continuously improve.”

Koen Haans, Quality Manager at Tata Steel:
“Thanks to the implementation of the Holland Sensor sensors, we now have direct real-time insight into water quality. Where we previously had to wait for measurement results, we can now continuously monitor data and respond more quickly when needed.”

Vincent van Laar, Holland Sensor:
“Collaborating with Tata Steel allows us to validate the Mizu®Sensor in one of the most demanding industrial water environments. Their expertise and scale provide valuable insights that help us strengthen this application and prepare it for broader international deployment.”

The collaboration reflects Holland Sensor’s platform approach, in which a core sensing technology is developed into targeted applications for scalable industrial challenges. Real-time metal monitoring in industrial water systems is one of the key applications within this platform.
