Former BCG Senior Partner to guide market launch and scaling of water monitoring technology
Driebergen-Rijsenburg, The Netherlands – March 10, 2026 – Holland Sensor has appointed Jaap Backx as Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2026. Jaap will lead the company’s strategy and operations as it prepares for the market introduction of its real-time technology for monitoring metals in water. After joining the team as an angel investor in 2024, he has been actively involved with the company since January.
Founder and current CEO Leo de Zeeuw will remain actively involved with the company as an advisor and will focus in his new role on commercial development and strategic relationships.
Jaap joins Holland Sensor at a pivotal moment in the company’s development. After several years of intensive technology development, the company is entering the next stage: bringing its sensor technology for real-time, lab-precision measurement of metals in water to the market and scaling the organization to support international growth.

Jaap currently serves as Senior Partner & Managing Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he globally leads the Agile & Platform Operating Model topic. Over the past two decades, he has advised leadership teams of leading international organizations on technology transformation, platform businesses, and innovation scaling.
In addition to his work at BCG, Jaap is an angel investor and advisor to several start-ups and scale-ups, supporting founders in areas such as strategy, governance, and organizational effectiveness.

Jaap holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Management Science from Eindhoven University of Technology and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, with majors in Finance and Marketing.

Jaap is actief betrokken per 1 januari en zal per 1 juni 2026 formeel aantreden en wordt verantwoordelijk voor de strategische koers, operationele aansturing en verdere opschaling van het bedrijf. Oprichter en huidig CEO Leo de Zeeuw blijft actief betrokken bij Holland Sensor als adviseur en zal zich in een nieuwe rol onder meer richten op commerciële ondersteuning en strategische relaties.
Met de komst van Jaap markeert Holland Sensor de start van een nieuwe fase in haar ontwikkeling. Na een intensieve periode van technologieontwikkeling staat het bedrijf aan de vooravond van de marktintroductie van zijn sensortechnologie voor real-time, lab-precisie metingen van metalen in water. Deze stap vraagt om verdere opschaling van de organisatie en een sterke strategische en operationele aansturing.
De komende jaren zullen in het teken staan van het versnellen van de marktintroductie, internationale groei en verdere professionalisering van de organisatie. Met zijn ervaring in het bouwen en opschalen van technologie- en platformorganisaties brengt Jaap precies de leiderschapsimpuls die nodig is om deze ambitieuze nieuwe fase vorm te geven.
Jaap Backx is momenteel Senior Partner & Managing Director bij Boston Consulting Group (BCG), waar hij onder andere wereldwijd leidinggeeft aan het Agile & Platform Operating Model thema. Met meer dan twintig jaar ervaring in platformorganisaties, technologie–commerce integratie en complexe transformaties adviseerde hij directieteams van toonaangevende internationale organisaties bij het opschalen van innovatie en het realiseren van duurzame prestaties.
Naast zijn werk bij BCG is Jaap actief als angel investor en extern adviseur van diverse start- en scale-ups, waar hij founders ondersteunt op het gebied van strategie, governance en organisatieontwikkeling.
Binnen Holland Sensor zal Jaap verantwoordelijk zijn voor de visie, strategie en geïntegreerde roadmap, evenals voor de dagelijkse leiding, operationele excellentie, leiderschapsontwikkeling en het versnellen van de groeistrategie van het bedrijf.
