About Holland Sensor
At Holland Sensor BV, we create impact with groundbreaking technology. Our advanced Boron-Doped Diamond sensors detect (heavy) metals in water with unprecedented precision. What makes our technology unique is that users can measure multiple types of water contamination on-site and act on the results immediately—all with a single device. In addition, all data is stored in the cloud.
This innovative approach is entirely new to the water sector, and our mission is to transform this industry worldwide. Together with a passionate and experienced team of professionals, we work every day on technologies that contribute to a safer and cleaner world.
We are about to deliver our first sensors to customers and are on the verge of rapid acceleration—hence this vacancy.
Would you like to be part of this promising journey? You will join an ambitious and growing Holland Sensor team (currently 10 people) that is in an exciting lead-up to go-live.

Purpose of the role
For our Research Team, we are looking for an experienced Senior Researcher with a strong scientific background, solid knowledge of electrochemistry, and a structured approach to analytical method development. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new method scripts (analytical methods) to expand the range of metals that can be measured in water using our technology.
In addition, you will design and develop sample pre-treatment strategies for customers, ensuring optimal performance of the Mizu® Sensor for each specific application. The role also includes coordinating research projects with external partners. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of the fully automated version of the current manual system—an effort that is already well underway.
You will work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of a Manager Research, an electrochemist, a chemical engineer, and a laboratory technician.
The Senior Researcher plays a key role in translating scientific insights into practical and reproducible methods, with a strong focus on quality, reproducibility, and scalability. Effective planning in collaboration with the team, reporting, statistical analysis, and documentation are essential.
You will work closely with internal researchers as well as external research and production partners, contributing to the continuous improvement of analytical methods and research processes.
This is a challenging position for a researcher who enjoys hands-on work on innovative solutions, offering significant intellectual challenge within a professional and ambitious team.
You will report to the Manager Research.
